New report puts focus on Cayman

A new Captive Review report has been released focusing on the second largest captive domicile in the world, the Cayman Islands.

Featuring the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA), EY, Ocarian and Pinnacle Actuarial Services, the experts take a look at the hot topics for Cayman-domiciled captives.

CIMA take a look at the impact of Covid-19 on Cayman captives, speaking on the opportunities presented for the captive industry.

“The pandemic is expected to radically alter the manner in which business is conducted going forward and is highly likely to reshape the risk management approach by many businesses,” the authority said.

Sherman Taylor of Occorian writes on the combination of Covid-19 and a hardening market, how this will have lasting impacts on reinsurance capacity.

Jim Bulkowski and Mikhail Raybshteyn from EY meanwhile look at the different point of views in an organisation when a captive is being considered and the questions a parent needs to ask.

Finally Rob Walling from Pinnacle dives deep on how actuaries can utilise established standards to drive innovation in captives.

The 2021 Cayman Report is available now on the Captive Review website.
