Crossrail and Salvation Army to join captive owner panel at Captive Live UK 2015

Captive Live UK will feature a captive owner panel for the first time this year including participants Colin Hamling, of Crossrail, and Gordon Dewar, of the Salvation Army.

Crossrail, Europe’s biggest infrastructure project, has more than 40,000 people working across 40 locations in and around London, bringing with it unique and challenging insurance needs.

The project has successfully put a captive at the centre of its prorgramme and Hamling will be shedding light on how at Captive Live UK, held at etc.venues, St Paul’s, on Thursday, January 22 and Friday, January 23.

Hamling will be joined by Dewar, who has overseen the successful development of Salvation Army General Insurance Corporation (SAGIC).

SAGIC writes UK property and third-party property, but Dewar plans to add further lines at home and abroad during the next decade with gradual evolution to a global programme.

“I am really excited to have Colin and Gordon on the conference’s flagship panel this year,” said Richard Cutcher, editor of Captive Review and moderator of the captive owner panel.

“The hugely ambitious Crossrail project is happening all around us here in London and the insurance challenges are equally intriguing.

“At the Salvation Army Gordon has some really exciting plans moving forward and his captive is already turning a healthy profit which goes back to the charity. Delegates should find both panellists highly rewarding, while I expect to confirm another large multinational captive owner shortly.”

Other highlights of Captive Live UK include the Onshore v Offshore Debate, an Employee Benefits panel featuring Lorraine Stack of Marsh, Karin Landry of Spring Consulting and David Schupack of MAXIS Global Benefits Network as well as a special Directors & Officers roundtable led by Richard Le Toq from Heritage.

As ever, the morning of Day One will feature a Captive Basics session as well as the ‘Opportunities and Challenges Facing Captives in 2015’ panel, including Aon’s Paul Sykes, Nick Gale of Marsh and Airmic’s technical director Paul Hopkin.
