Captive Review acquired by Captive International parent Newton Media

Complementary deal will deliver numerous benefits to readers and customers of both titles

Captive Review, part of the With Intelligence Group, was yesterday (24 June 2024) acquired by Newton Media, the parent company of Captive International.

The strategic acquisition is a deal that represents a significant milestone for both organisations and which promises numerous benefits to the readers and customers of both titles.

The two portfolios have complementary offerings. Captive Review has a strong base of subscribers, as well as landmark events including its captive summits and in-person awards.

Captive International is renowned for its jurisdiction-focused special editions such as US Focus, Cayman Focus and Bermuda Focus, as well as its flagship FORTY under 40.

Newton Media has a proven track record as a provider of insightful business information and analysis. Some of its other successful titles on the risk side include Intelligent Insurer and Bermuda:Re+ILS, while it also publishes legal titles including World Intellectual Property Review.

Newton Media’s extensive experience in delivering high-quality content and deep industry insights will complement the strengths of Captive Review. Its integration into Newton Media’s portfolio will open up exciting opportunities for growth, including an expansion of digital platforms, and opportunities to grow its innovative conference and networking business.

Peter Scott, managing director of Newton Media, said: “This acquisition strengthens our commitment to serving the captive insurance community with unparalleled dedication and expertise. We believe this union will benefit all our stakeholders, driving innovation and excellence in our industry.

“With increased resources, we will be able to expand our offering in the captives space, providing even greater value to our readers and partners. The captive sector can look forward to richer, more comprehensive coverage and analysis of the captive insurance market. Our combined expertise will enable us to deliver more robust, relevant, and timely information to help you stay ahead in the industry.”

Charlie Kerr, founder and CEO, With Intelligence, added: “Captive has been a great brand for us, but as we focus more on our journey from data platform to an asset raising workflow tool and subscription platform, Captive no longer fits within our core use case for the market we serve. We wish Captive every success in its new home at Newton Media.”
