The Temple University seniors Matia Daskalos and Vincent Palmieri have been named as the winners of this year’s Captive Insurance Companies Association’s (CICA) essay contest.
Sponsored by Strategic Risk Solutions (SRS) the subject focus this year was “Using Captive Insurance Solutions to Address Coverage Gaps”.
“We are always pleased to see the bright and talented students who enter the competition. Their commitment to tackle a new challenge and develop a broader knowledge of insurance solutions gives them a leg-up on managing an organisation’s risks,” Dan Towle, CICA president, said. “Students tell us they enjoy learning about the complexities of captive insurance and how captives can provide solutions that might not otherwise be available,” he added.
Announced on the first day of CICA’s annual conference — this year being held in Tucson, Arizona – the winners receive a prize of $2500 and will present their cases at an education conference session at CICA on 8 March.
Connor Thomson and Nicholas Vagnozzi of Sant Joseph’s University and Katie Strohl and Blake Babec of Butler University came in second and third place respectively.
