WTW makes Cayman appointments

Willis Towers Watson (WTW) has made two significant appointments in its Cayman Islands office, with Lesley Thompson and Gareth van den Bergh.

Thompson will lead the WTW Cayman office, as vice president and director of Willis Towers Watson Management (Cayman), subject to regulatory approvals.

Meanwhile van den Bergh has been appointed the senior account manager at the WTW Cayman office and will report to Thompson.

Thompson has more than 20 years experience and previously worked for Aon in Bermuda, before moving to Cayman in 2005 to work for HSBC in its captive management team.

She went on to work for Atlas Insurance Management and Advantage Insurance, before heading up insurance management service at Maples Group for four years.

Thomson is also a faculty member, director and the current president of the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE).

Moving from Captiva, where he had been working since 2016 as in insurance management, van den Bergh will be responsible for the day to day running of the WTW captive management, as well as providing regulatory guidance and managing key relationships.

“Gareth has a solid foundation of technical skills and qualifications which combine well with his detailed knowledge of the Cayman Islands insurance market and regulatory regime, all of which he brings to the Cayman team of Willis Towers Watson at a very important time,” Thompson said.
